Jaffrey, New Hampshire
The new owners of a 1760s home in Jaffrey, NH contacted Lisa in the summer of 2021. She traveled to their beautiful home and enjoyed a grand tour of the many projects the couple was undertaking. They had a vision of a Rufus Porter-type mural in the hall to greet people as they enter the grand front door. After exploring the town through visits and research, Lisa created sketches for the two panels. Early in 2022 she set to work painting the two large (each more than 24 feet) panels and completed them to be hung by Charlie Gilley of Restoration Painting in time for Memorial Day weekend. The home itself is featured in the center of the East Wall panel.
As an interesting note, The far right end of the East Wall shows the Prescott Tavern, which is no longer standing. Rufus Porter painted murals in the tavern. Sad that they were lost, but the image of the tavern itself lives on!
