Vergennes, Vermont

The Strong House Inn was built in the 1800s by Samuel Strong, Jr, whose father played an important role in the Battle of Plattsburgh during the War of 1812. The dining room of the inn now features murals on canvas on all four walls depicting scenes of rural Vergennes, the town itself in the mid 1800s, the ships being built for the battle and the portrait of Sam Strong between the panels of the battle as it played out in September of 1814.
