It’s been quite a year here at the studio! In January I closed the doors to the Canvasworks Supplies side of my business, as I was determined to find more time to spend on my painting. The Supplies business had grown exponentially and I was unable to find someone to help me run it, so I chose to end it. I’m sorry if this has inconvenienced any of you, but please understand that the artist in me was suffering while I spent seemingly endless hours processing orders and ordering shipping supplies on top of making sure that all of our products went out in perfect condition.
The good news is that I am painting like a crazy woman now! I feel like I have been freed from the chains of 8 years of operating a growing retail business. While I still enjoy making floorcloths, I am limiting them to just 2 a month. The rest of my time is spent creating murals, wall hangings and paintings in my quasi-folk art style. These paintings have been very well received, and I am loving the creative freedom they bring me.
I am so looking forward to 2017! I have 3 murals in the works and my work will be shown at Ladew Gardens (MD) in May and at the Green Mtn Horse Association in Woodstock, VT for the summer. This means I’m working on a series of paintings! It’s very exciting to be creating a complete body of work to show at different venues.
This is my most recent painting. I call it “Mary and Kate”, as my mother and my horse appeared before me on the canvas, somewhat subconsciously! This will be a permanent installation in my gallery, but I am considering creating limited edition, giclee-quality prints of this and a few other paintings in the New Year. If this is of interest to you, please comment below or send me an email.
The six pieces I am planning for the upcoming shows will also be wall hangings. These large pieces lend themselves to some great spots- entryways, dining and living rooms and even barn aisles and indoor riding rings.
I send best wishes for a wonderful 2017. Let’s all gallop forward and leap all obstacles with confidence and class!
Stunning – I can see now why you needed to concentrate! Wishing you a very happy and fruitful 2017 😊
I love this painting! I would love to see more of your work. I just came upon this post through a friend.
Lisa, absolutely love this painting and would be very interested in a print!
I have just newly found your work and I am in love with it. I adore the rustic and muralist style. You will definitely be hearing from me in the future when my addition is finished.
Beautiful as always. Currently looking over pictures with my daughter of her with her horses to see what you would propose. Hope to have it together next week. Love your sharing. Wishing you and yours a wonderful 2017.
Your mother is lovely as are all of your creations! Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely beautiful
