Yesterday Scott Fleishman from WCAX-TV in Burlington, VT came and interviewed and filmed me at the studio for an upcoming segment of “Made In Vermont”. It took a lot to get this place ship-shape but it was all worth it. Now I have a clean, uncluttered place to work and think! And today I got back to a doodle, or a painted doodle, or a daily painting. I’m not sure what to call these, but they’re fun and I’m learning about oils as I go!

I like the background sky in this one. I’m referring to old George Stubbs paintings to work on these skies and the oils have opened up the ability to mix colors right on the painting and go back in and move color around. What  blast!

For those curious about dressage, this is called a pirouette. It’s a highly collected canter where the horse does a small circle with its back feet and turns the forehand lightly around. The horse has to really sit and carry most of its weight on the hindquarters which requires enormous strength and coordination.
