Old Vermont Barn 2- Bowen Hill Rd.
Once a hay barn for cattle and sheep, this barn with its “Barn Unsafe” sign and overgrowth of trees is begging for recognition of what it once was, before it falls to the ground. So very sad.
The original 12″ x 16″ artwork is a combination of painting, torn papers, prints and textural washes to create an image as varied and complex as the old barn itself. Framed in a beautiful barnboard frame which sits behind the painting adding to the interest of the piece. It is framed and will be available at a special price soon. Contact the studio for more information.
Stretched Canvas Prints
“Old Vermont Barn 2- Bowen Hill Rd.” canvas print by Lisa Curry Mair. Artwork comes to life with the texture and depth of a stretched canvas print. The image gets printed onto premium canvas and then stretched on a wooden frame of stretcher bars. The canvas print will be delivered to you “ready to hang” with pre-attached hanging wire, mounting hooks, and nails. “Mirrored” means the image continues around the edges of the frame.
This is so amazingly beautiful. You are so artistic and there is so much sensitivity in your work. I have always admired what you do. I hope you are feeling better. Thank you for this posting. Susan
I like the fact that you are showing the barns in their present state, along with how they were intended to be used, in this case with a horse-drawn hay wagon. That is much more educational and artistic; whereas, a photo shows only their current condition, with no useful context. I am a member of the Appalachian Barn Alliance of Madison County, NC, whose mission is to document as many barns in western NC as possible. (This county at one time had thousands, including for hay and, most recently, for air drying burley tobacco. I own a 19th century cruciform hay barn that I have adapted for modern use, with a loft apartment and storage unit above two stalls, a workshop, a utility / laundry / garden room, and a powder room. Most barns will suffer the fate of the Bowen Hill Road barn, disassembled for their logs, beams and boards in new construction projects.
