The current project on my table is a two-wall mural for the Member’s Room at the Green Mountain Horse Association in South Woodstock, VT. Every summer I spend a lot of time in this room as GMHA turns into my “home away from home”. I compete at dressage shows there, volunteer at other events and trailer Kate up there from time to time to use the facilities for training or to go for a ride on their wonderful network of trails.
The mural will depict scenes of all of the riding disciplines that happen at this great place. Dressage, eventing, show jumping, trail riding and driving fill the calendar from early May to late October. Today I did a little “doodle” painting as a study for the trail riding part of the mural. Just trying to work on that “peaceful” feel and get the light right. This one is again in oils. I’m really loving working in this medium!
